Overall it was as described. Location is excellent, close to town but far enough away to miss the traffic, House was clean and well maintained. Downstairs shower is small, some challenge getting in/out of shower because of sliding door space being so small. Kitchen needs minor things like lids to saucepans which were missing. Would stay there again.

There needs to be some covering on the glass double front doors so the light doesn't affect the turtles and we were not on display at night. Wish the refrigerator had an automatic icemaker and the 3rd bedroom at the top of the stairs had a door to close so early risers in the kitchen below would not wake the person in that room.

You couldn’t ask for a better view from a rental across the street from the beach. Beach access is also just across the street from this property.
There is drip coffee maker as well as a Keurig, a 4 slice toaster, and dishwasher and oven/stove. The kitchen was well stocked with dishes, cooking and eating utensils. Make sure to bring extra paper towels, toilet paper, dish detergent etc. Refrigerator doesn’t have an ice maker, there are a few ice trays. One of the three TVs is in the ground floor room. No DVD player. This room only has a half bath, so anyone sleeping there would have to go up to the main floor to shower. Beds were comfortable, as mentioned in a previous review we couldn’t find a way to turn on the ceiling fan and light in the loft bedroom. The sliding shower door in the bathroom on the living room level would be a problem for anyone with a large stature. When open there is only about a foot of space to get into the shower! The doors need to be changed to a hinged type door. Locks on the Sliding glass doors to the balconies need to be replaced! They have screws pushed into holes that were drilled into the frame to keep the doors from opening. The screws can be removed so you can open the door but they are difficult to put back. The Adirondack chairs on the deck are not very comfortable and it’s hard to see the view when sitting in them. All of the things mentioned above are minor issues that didn’t have any effect on our experience in the house. It is located in an area that allows easy access to shops, restaurants, grocery, gas and the bridge to Eastpoint. Overall we enjoyed our stay at the Catbird Seat!

St. George Island has no large chain hotels and many small businesses. It has a great small town feel.

We made a quick detour to St. George Island for a couple days and found this home as it apparently was a cancellation. Location is good and access to the beach is great. It has a highly unusual floor plan, with a bedroom that sleeps 2 attached but without direct indoor access to the rest of the main living area. So long as you know this, it’s really not a big deal. Our two teenage boys were a little uncomfortable about this at first, but they adjusted and were fine. The unit is a little dated and some things are worn out and don’t work but nothing major. It’s the little things: the range fan didn’t work, a cooktop coil didn’t work because it had become detached (which we quickly fixed), the shower door handle kept falling off., loose deck boards near the outdoor shower. Nothing major, but also things that need to be fixed. HVAC worked well and we were never hot. But 2 of the toilets are so close to the walls that it’s actually difficult to do your business. We recommend using the upstairs loft bathroom. However, it is nice to have 3 bathrooms !!!! We saw no bugs there. Anything we needed, the property management company provided. We had a beeping smoke detector and were provided a battery. Also received additional dishwasher tabs and garage bags as needed.

Our family had a great experience with this rental. The process was easy, the rental company was pleasant and helpful and the house was perfect. The location was great, we could walk to most restaurants/shops and it has a great view of the beach despite not being directly on it. The walk is so short to the beach you feel as if you are directly on the beach.

The island of St George is waaaaay laid back - actually not a lot to do. The house was 'meh' for the price, and needed a lot of maintenance (actually could use a full reno). It's a pretty old place. The second bedroom is a loft with no door so you hear all the kitchen noises in the am. The beach is gorgeous - especially down at the state park, which is a fabulous state park. We will come back, but it will be in our RV!

We had a great time. The house was just right. e completely enjoyed ourselves.

Upon opening the front door, the house was bright, clean, welcoming. Typical beach look. Everything was clean, but several roaches noted, some dead, some dying, some feisty. Disappointed that only 2 dishwasher pods were provided, no cleaners or dishwashing liquid. Only one small bar of bath soap. Well stocked with plates, pots, pans, etc., and lots of books in a cabinet behind the bkfst table. Easy walk to the beach, excellent ocean view from deck. The A/C is cold blowing into kitchen, upstairs bedroom is hot with only one floor vent. Xtra room downstairs was unused by us, but has only a wall unit a/c. Easy walking distance to town. Short drive to state park area. Food in SGI is mediocre and over-priced; buy seafood from a truck and get sides, etc. from Piggly Wiggly.

There are a some of things that were inconvenient. If you have any mobility/health problems, there are stairs getting into the house and also going to a bedroom. The 3rd bedroom is separate which would be inconvenient for whoever stayed in it, which the laundry area is also there. It could use some updating. But, overall a great experience.

Pictures of the property inside and out need to be updated. Not all the furniture shown in the pictures is there. Coffee maker needs to be replaced. Otherwise everything is good

Catbird Seat was the perfect place for three older guys who came to Apalachicola for a fishing trip. The house was perfect for our needs, the kitchen was perfect for cooking our catch (and other meals), and the house is centrally located for all the fun activities that one looks for at the beach.

So much to enjoy!
LOCATION! LOCATION! LOCATION! Having the beach in view, with just a quiet street to cross was perfect. It’s an easy walk to shops, restaurants etc that are in the town center.
The space was clean and fairly spacious ...large kitchen and living space, great balcony. Two of the bedrooms were tight but the beds were very comfortable. Showers were Hot with good pressure. The carport was helpful to pack up during a storm!
Our only negative was the TV/cable was not working. The rental company made a note, but we never heard back from them. They did come quickly to replace outside lightbulbs.
Other things you may want to know: The kitchen has plenty of dishes, cookware and serving pieces. If you plan on doing any cooking bring everything else! This includes dish soap, salt, pepper, coffee filters, dish towels etc. May as well bring any cleaning supplies and extra trash bags, too. The house is older but fairly well maintained. It could use some TLC (faucets, shower heads, towel bar,) but then it probably wouldn’t be as affordable
We would stay here again or recommend it, just come a bit more prepared.

(3) Rooms - 1 room was disconnected from rest of house and adjacent to garage area, little disappointing and may have been in description, should have read more closely. Only (1) bedroom has a door. The other is upstairs but decent room but no door. Linens/bedding were basic accommodations so not extremely comfortable. My only negative feedback. Otherwise unit was in very clean condition, location great, and views (no house across street to block it) was exceptional. For the $ it was well worth the stay. Just be aware of room situation.

We had a great stay at The Catbird Seat. The rental was in a great location from everything on the island. The view at the rental was breathtaking! The 3rd bedroom is separate like it says in the description from the rest of the living space. It worked well for us being two families sharing the house. The house was very clean and it was recently painted inside.

We loved Catbird Seat! The location was perfect. Right across the street from the beach and there was no houses blocking the view! Plenty of space for our family and clean! The only thing we would have a complaint about is the grass around the house was really high. Not a big deal but it would have looked nicer on the outside. But all in all, GREAT experience! Definitely will go back.

Great location. Across the street from the beach and walking distance to town. We rented a golf cart for 2 days. Very roomy living room/kitchen area and nice big deck for quiet evenings. But the whole house needs TLC and the beds are very uncomfortable. Mattresses are old, soft, and sag in the middle. We had to put all available extra pillows under the mattress for a little stability. I wouldn’t stay there again just for the sleeping conditions.

Excellent location, can see the beach and water from 3 rd floor, can see the water from the second floor. Very roomy.

We were very happy with the process of renting through Suncoast. This particular property is in a great location, but is not in great condition. The air conditioning and overall condition of the property needs attention.

This house is across the street from beachfront properties, but as of summer 2021 there is no house on the beachfront lot directly across from this house so the view is spectacular! The house itself is good, about what you'd expect at the price point. Be aware that one of the bedrooms is on the ground floor (which is evident from the pics) and it is not internally connected to the rest of the house, i.e. it has it's own external entrance. Not ideal for families with young children.

Cat Bird has a great view of the gulf with close and easy beach access. My husband and I found Catbird comfortable and clean. The living area is open with great views of gulf from inside or on decks.

Perfect stay for six people! Great view and overall location. House was clean, no surprises that would have been a disappointment ! Easy check in and checkout. On the negative side outdoor wooden furniture should go away! Had a great stay!!

I love staying here. I love the location. It’s close to the beach and main business area yet it maintains the secluded island feel. The house is not pretentious but it is extremely comfortable and has a homey feel. My favorite place to get away and rejuvenate. Suncoast Realty is such a professional company with a staff that feels like friends. Super helpful and accommodating.
